NIGEL

Nigel spent his early life as a Special Constable. Although constables wear identical uniforms to that of police officers, they are often derided as being “hobby bobbies” (not “real” policemen). During carnival patrol duty, Nigel, on impulse, participated in the infamous “Race of Legends”. Racing against The Dagda (a figure of burlesque lampoonery), The Morrigan (a phantom cow) and the Lugh (a harpist), Nigel lost the race – hearing the crowd’s jeer “to the lobby hobby bobby”, made him step up his game. He designed a smashing yellow racing suit and thereby won his first carnival race the following year, and every year thereafter. He is now known as Rigel Nigel.
